About Me

A little bit about me !

Welcome to Pinecone and Robin! I’m Sophie, and I’m the one man band behind every item you see here.

Where it all began My love for craft started back in my childhood in Portsmouth. I spent many happy hours walking through the forest with my Dad, pockets full of pinecones and no idea what I’d do with them I just knew I loved them! My Mum, who is incredibly artistic, taught me the joy of making gifts for others.

That tradition has stuck; even now, I’m the person making handmade, gifts for the whole family, last Christmas I crafted my Nan an embroidered framed piece, each embroidered piece represented something she loves, it took me ages but she loved it. I finally have the "adult money" to take those childhood dreams and turn them into something real.

Why Pinecone and Robin? When I first started, I went with "Handmade by Sophie," but it felt too cliché. I wanted something that told a story. Pinecones represent those forest walks with my Dad and my love for Christmas. The "Robin" is for the loved ones who are no longer here, they are a huge part of who I am, and I love the idea of taking them on this journey with me.

Crafting through the ups and downs Life has thrown me a few curveballs; FND, Fibromyalgia, and ADHD. To put it mildly: my brain likes to go in five directions at once, and my body sometimes decides it simply isn't moving today! Working a "normal" job became a struggle, so I decided to pivot. I’m putting my health first and building a business that works with me, not against me.

Crafting is my grounding force. When my brain feels overwhelmed or my body is in pain, I can step into the world of my imagination and just create. And yes, my partner might argue that I have too many crafting accessories, but they’re wrong they’re essential!

What you’re supporting When you order from me, you’re getting a piece that I’ve poured my absolute all into. From the initial design and sourcing materials to the hours of careful work, every item is made with heart. I even keep a map of the UK in my studio, colouring in every county I’ve sent a piece to my goal is to get that map filled in!

Thank you for being part of this journey. You’re not just buying a handmade item; you’re supporting a local maker who is proving that we are so much more than our limitations.
